2014 Seniors Wrapping up Meredith Softball Careers


 Lorri Cole, Leah Friedman, Ashley Green, and Whitney Williams were honored on Senior Day for their accomplishments, leadership, and contributions to both the softball program and Meredith College as student-athletes. Ashley, Leah, and Whitney played four years for the Avenging Angels, while Lorri took over catching duties her sophomore year, anchoring the pitcher-catcher battery for three years.

 Lorri Cole played for three years as the Avenging Angels primary catcher. She served as a captain her senior year. Lorri spent her junior fall semester abroad. She was selected to the USA South All-Conference Honorable Mention and All-Academic Teams. She was also the recipient of Meredith's Dean Burris' Coach and Jack Huber awards.


 Leah Friedman started all four years of her career in the outfield while batting lead-off for the Angels, Leah garnered USA South All-Conference Honorable Mention, All-Sportsmanship, and All-Academic Teams honors during her four years. A Fashion Merchandising major, Leah studied abroad in France. with the Meredith Fashion program the summer before her senior year.

Ashley Green started all four years in the outfield, playing all three positions. She served as a captain her senior year. Ashley studied sports ministry in South Africa for two months the summer before her senior year. She will graduate with a major in Family and Consumer Science. Ashley was selected to the USA South All-Conference Third Team, All-Sportsmanship, and All-Academic Teams during her four years. She was also the recipient of the Meredith's Jack Huber award.


 Whitney Williams is a four year for the Avenging Angels. A Meredith Honors program student, Whitney was recognized as an All-Academic Team member all four years. In her freshman year, Whitney recorded the winning RBI in extra innings in the USA South tournament to advance the Angels to the semi-finals. She will graduate with an Exercise and Sports Science major, and assisted the trainer in helping teammates prepare for games. She hopes to go to Physician's Assistant school.

 The Meredith Softball program will greatly miss these seniors and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
