2014 Meredith Softball finishes 5th in USA South Conference
Garners first Player of the Year in Softball team history

The 2014 season saw a graduate student come back and anchor the pitching duties, and 12 players playing their hearts out with no rest and no room for error. It also saw another end of season push to end up in the upper tier of the conference and secure a spot in the tournament (as 5th seed).

To honor the hard work, the USA South Conference again selected 5 Meredith Angels for the All-Conference team, and for the first time ever, Meredith can claim a USA South Softball Player of the Year, and a NFCA Division III 3rd team Atlantic Division All-Region selection.

But let's redefine Meredith "STRONG" right here....

In the end though, congratulations to ALL the players on the 2013 and 2014 teams that stayed "STRONG" while playing with the minimum number of players allowed each year (12). With little room for error, these players played many times through injury and sickness. These ladies are a testament to hard work, courage, and pride as they represented Meredith College whether at home or in Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida, or North Carolina. Consider that each of the last two years, this team of just 12 girls, more than held their own against opponents that had players more than double the Avenging Angel squad. 

Meredith "STRONG" also applies to the coaches. Head Coach Kim Scavone (and Boston College Sports Hall of Famer) has coached, taught, and doctored players to winning seasons against lots of odds. Assistant Coach Dawn Malone, who kept the Angels on first base loose, ran the outfield, and did her best to teach the Angels the value of strength and conditioning. And to Adam Renzi, who provides that extra push to make sure those players know that they are capable of being the elite, the best.

That is truly Avenging Angel "STRONG"!
